Job Description


Environmental Advisor – Major Energy Infrastructure Project (Scotland)

Contract: 6 Months possible extension

Start Date: Mid-September 2026

"All in" Daily Rate: up to £550 per day Outside IR35


The Role

We're looking for Environmental Advisors to support a major energy infrastructure project in Scotland. Working as part of a specialist environmental team, you'll help ensure environmental compliance, support project delivery, and drive continuous improvement across site operations.


This role calls for a stronger-than-average candidate, someone confident and capable of challenging site activities where required, and comfortable dealing with demanding stakeholders. The position involves more than site presence alone; substantial documentation and compliance work is a core part of the role.



Key Responsibilities

  • Promote environmental best practice across the project
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company procedures, legislation, and project requirements
  • Support environmental incident investigations and recommend preventative measures
  • Collect and report environmental performance data
  • Review environmental information and identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental and sustainability initiatives
  • Provide advice and support to project teams on environmental matters
  • Help identify significant environmental risks and ensure effective controls are implemented
  • Support the management of environmental and ecological permits, licences, and consents
  • Maintain environmental records and documentation to demonstrate compliance
  • Liaise with environmental specialists, ecologists, and external consultants
  • Support the wider environmental and sustainability function by sharing best practice


Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related discipline
  • Previous experience in an Environmental Advisor role within construction, infrastructure, utilities, or energy projects
  • Working knowledge of environmental legislation and its application within the construction industry
  • Experience or understanding of:
  • Ecological mitigation
  • Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG)
  • Water management and pollution prevention
  • Waste management
  • Statutory nuisance
  • Contaminated land
  • Consents, licensing, and DCO/TCPA planning discharge processes
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 environmental management systems
  • Associate ISEP membership (or working towards Practitioner membership) desirable
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills
  • Good IT skills
  • Strong communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to challenge site activities where necessary
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
