With a rich history spanning decades in National Security, they support customers in delivering some of the most vital missions in the public sector, and are known for a strong culture of diversity, inclusion, and genuine work-life balance.

The role

As AWS Solution Architect, you'll work closely with customers to define and architect the functional blocks of AWS to support their cloud adoption journey and beyond. This is a key, customer-facing role eliciting requirements for cloud adoption and cloud-native architectures, understanding existing ecosystems, and defining the patterns and services needed for a successful, well-architected migration to AWS.

Core duties

  • Work with the wider community of development teams to deliver migration services using common code, standards and artefact formats driving collaboration, particularly around service dependencies
  • Define and document AWS architecture for migration (baseline, target, roadmap, patterns, standards, reference architectures, etc.), supporting a wide range of use cases
  • Run architectural reviews of the platform at appropriate intervals to make best use of vendor technologies
  • Proactively define, optimise, automate, publish and communicate deployment patterns for migration
  • Support engineering teams in optimising the migration path
  • Act as an escalation point for engineering teams on troubleshooting and incident management
  • Drive the adoption of automation across the platform, using common methods with other platforms
  • Document deployed systems, scripts and working practices to enable re-use and support for users globally

About you

You'll have experience in many of the following:

  • Cloud migration experience
  • Experience in cloud platform architecture with AWS, defining cloud reference architectures and patterns in a large, multi-account AWS estate
  • Strong AWS experience, with a track record of solving complex business issues regarded as an AWS subject matter expert
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD tools
  • Experience with AWS security services and network services
  • Experience working within an Agile framework
  • Good understanding of AWS security concepts and cyber security goals
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate teams to adopt new tools and set new standards

Nice to have (but not essential):

  • Industry certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional), or AWS Speciality certifications (Security, Advanced Networking)
  • A scaled agile framework certification, such as SAFe
  • Experience managing stakeholders, including users and senior management
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers

What's in it for you

  • Flexible and hybrid working, with core hours and part-time options available
  • 25 days' holiday a year, with the option to buy, sell or carry over
  • Flexible benefits package including private medical and dental insurance, a competitive pension scheme, cycle to work scheme, and more
  • Company bonus scheme
  • Access to a range of Diversity & Support groups covering everything from gender diversity to mental health and wellbeing
  • A large organisation with a genuinely close-knit, team-focused culture
