Senior ServiceNow Software Engineer (Developer)

Estimated start date: Thursday, 01 October 2026

Extension term: Up to 2 extension options not to exceed 24 months

Location of work: QLD, WA, ACT, VIC, NSW, NT, SA, TAS

Working arrangements: Hybrid

Please note: A preference for candidates to perform the role in Canberra, although other AEC office locations will be considered. - Flexible working arrangements (i.e. a combination of onsite attendance at an AEC office and remote working) will be considered - Candidates who are only available to work remotely will be considered; however, they will need to demonstrate strong and effective communication and stakeholder relationship skills.

Maximum hours: 40 hours per week

Security clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1

Job details

Seeking an experienced ServiceNow developer to lead the design and implementation of the IRM module across the agency, leveraging proven experience delivering successful ServiceNow outcomes in large and complex organisations, preferably within government.

Key duties and responsibilities

Lead or contribute to the end-to-end design, implementation, configuration, and optimisation of the ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management (IRM) product, ensuring alignment with the agency's governance, risk, compliance, and assurance objectives.

Develop and implement ServiceNow IRM solutions, including workflows, data models, integrations, dashboards, reporting, and automation capabilities that support effective risk and compliance management.

Engage with business stakeholders, risk owners, compliance teams, and technical teams to gather requirements, define target operating models, and establish fit-for-purpose IRM processes and controls.

Provide thought leadership and best practice recommendations on adopting ServiceNow products Out of the Box.

Produce and maintain solution designs documents, operating procedures, and knowledge transfer documentation to support ongoing platform sustainability.

Participation in transition and knowledge transfer to agency internal support teams at the conclusion of the program.

Criteria

Demonstrated experience in developing, and maintaining ServiceNow applications and integrations using best practices and standards.

Holds a ServiceNow Certified System Administrator certification

Holds one or more ServiceNow Mainline Certification at an Implementation Specialist level in the following technology, customer or employee workflows:

IT Service Management

Customer Service Management

Data Foundations (CMDB/SDM)

An ability to collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical expertise in ServiceNow that meet business needs.

Well-developed communication skills, including the ability to distil technical information in plain English to communicate with influence.

Additional requirements

Due to the requirement for immediate access to PROTECTED information and systems, personnel proposed for this role must hold a current NV1 security clearance at commencement.
