Job Description
We're currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established marine engineering business based on the South Cornwall coast. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Marine Engineer to join their friendly and skilled engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong background in marine engineering who enjoys working on a variety of leisure and small commercial vessels. You'll be responsible for carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, ensuring customers receive a high standard of workmanship and service.
The RoleAs a Marine Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing inboard and outboard engines.
- Diagnosing and rectifying mechanical and electrical faults on a range of marine engines and onboard systems.
- Installing, commissioning and maintaining marine equipment.
- Carrying out sea trials following repairs where required (training can be provided if necessary).
- Working both within the workshop and at local customer locations.
- Liaising with customers and colleagues to provide technical advice and updates on repairs.
- Maintaining accurate service records and ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
- Keeping up to date with new products, equipment and manufacturer training.
- Working safely at all times and following all company Health & Safety procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience as a Marine Engineer or in a similar marine engineering environment.
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
- Experience working on inboard and outboard engines.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and excellent attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit engineering team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- A full UK Driving Licence.
Experience working with leading marine engine manufacturers such as Yanmar, Suzuki, Vetus, Volvo Penta, Mercury, Yamaha or similar would be highly advantageous, although not essential.
