Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced z/OS System Programmer to join our mainframe systems team. Associate will take end-to-end ownership of mainframe infrastructure from design and installation through ongoing performance management and collaborate closely with platform architects and application teams to ensure reliability, security, and availability of mission-critical systems.

Key Responsibilities
• Design, install, configure, and maintain mainframe z/OS systems software and associated hardware components.
• Perform SMP/E operations — RECEIVE, APPLY, and ACCEPT — for PTF and product maintenance.
• Manage Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) and IODF updates to support infrastructure changes.
• Monitor system performance using SMF/RMF data and conduct capacity planning to ensure optimal resource utilization.
• Install, configure, and provide ongoing support for ISV (Independent Software Vendor) products on the mainframe.
• Administer Unix System Services (USS/z/OS UNIX) including file systems, daemons, and shell environments.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues across z/OS components; participate in on-call rotation for critical mainframe support.
• Collaborate with application, network, and security teams to deliver integrated mainframe solutions.
• Maintain system documentation, change records, and standard operating procedures in alignment with ITIL practices.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and execution for the mainframe environment.
Required Skills & Experience
• Deep hands-on expertise with the z/OS operating system and its core subsystems (JES2/JES3, SDSF, ISPF, VTAM, TCP/IP).
• Proficiency in SMP/E for software installation and maintenance management.
• Strong working knowledge of Unix System Services (USS) on z/OS.
• Experience with Hardware Configuration (HCD/IODF) and I/O definition.
• Solid understanding of capacity planning principles and performance management methodologies.
• Ability to analyze SMF records, RMF/CMF reports, and system logs for performance tuning.
• Experience supporting and maintaining ISV products in a mainframe environment.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure during incidents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to document technical procedures clearly for varied audiences.
Nice to Have
Candidates with any of the following will have a distinct advantage:
• RACF (Resource Access Control Facility) administration — defining users, groups, data set profiles, and auditing.
