Job Description
At Munro Footwear Group (MFG), we're looking for an experienced Senior Data Engineer to help shape the future of our enterprise data platform. Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you'll play a key role in designing, building and optimising scalable data solutions that power business intelligence, analytics and data-driven decision making across the organisation. This is a hands-on technical role where you'll work closely with engineering, analytics and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, high-performance data platforms and pipelines.
The role- Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Microsoft SQL Server
- Develop robust ETL/ELT processes that support enterprise reporting, analytics and business intelligence
- Build and optimise semantic layers and data models for Power BI
- Partner with analysts, engineers and business stakeholders to translate data requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Champion data quality, governance, security and best practices across our data ecosystem
- Apply modern software engineering practices including testing, monitoring, logging and automation
- Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps
- Continuously improve the performance, reliability and scalability of our Azure data platform
- You'll be a technically strong Data Engineer who can solve complex data challenges and build scalable solutions.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering or software engineering with a data focus
- Proven hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Databricks and Microsoft SQL Server (essential)
- Retail industry experience or exposure to common data models
- Experience delivering production-grade data pipelines
- Proficient with Python notebooks, Spark-based transformations, ML pipelines
- Familiarity with Lakehouse architecture, Delta Lake, and event-driven
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience handling large-scale, real-time, or batch workloads
