B2B Integration Engineer

We are partnering with a growing global organization to identify a B2B Integration Engineer to join its expanding Technology team in the Chicago western suburbs.

This role will develop, support, and maintain integrations between the organization and its customers, carriers, vendors, and external business partners. The environment includes EDI, APIs, file-based integrations, databases, middleware, and other technologies used to automate the exchange of business-critical operational data.

The ideal candidate will combine strong integration skills with the ability to understand the business processes behind the data. This person should be comfortable asking questions, working directly with technical and business stakeholders, and understanding how integration decisions affect downstream operations.

B2B Integration Engineer Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, implement, and maintain B2B integrations with customers and external partners.
• Create and maintain EDI mappings.
• Work with ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, JSON, CSV, and flat-file formats.
• Develop and support REST APIs and web-service integrations.
• Configure and support SFTP, AS2, and other secure file-transfer processes.
• Analyze customer specifications and translate business requirements into technical integration solutions.
• Understand the business and operational processes supported by each integration.
• Support onboarding of new customers and trading partners.
• Conduct end-to-end testing before production implementation.
• Monitor production integrations and investigate failed, delayed, or inaccurate transactions.
• Troubleshoot mapping, transformation, API, database, connectivity, and file-transfer issues.
• Perform root-cause analysis and implement long-term solutions.
• Use SQL to analyze data and troubleshoot integration problems.
• Improve monitoring, logging, exception handling, and alerting.
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes.
• Maintain technical documentation for integrations, mappings, APIs, and support procedures.
• Communicate directly with customers and external technical teams.
• Collaborate with Technology and operational teams across multiple global regions.

B2B Integration Engineer Qualifications:

• 2+ years of EDI, B2B integration, application integration, or related technical experience.
• Experience with ANSI X12 and/or EDIFACT.
• Experience with data mapping and transformation.
• Working knowledge of REST APIs and web services.
• Experience with XML, JSON, CSV, or flat-file processing.
• Working SQL and relational-database experience.
• Experience with secure file transfer such as SFTP or AS2.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
• Ability to understand business processes and translate them into technical solutions.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
• Experience with integration platforms, Microsoft Azure, cloud integration, or logistics technology is highly valued.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field preferred. Equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
