Role Overview
Act as the EcoSys Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) responsible for the configuration, implementation, governance, and continuous improvement of EcoSys across projects. Provide strategic guidance, ensure standardization, and enable effective use of EcoSys to support project controls and EPC project execution. The SME bridges business requirements and system capabilities acting as both a functional advisor and a technical owner throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation & Configuration
Set up and configure projects, structures, and users in EcoSys in alignment with global standards and project requirements.
Translate project controls and business requirements into effective EcoSys functional design and configuration.
Support the Project Information Manager in planning and coordination of Project Delivery Systems implementation and integration.
Deliver functional walkthroughs, training sessions, and system demonstrations to project teams.
Maintain strong working relationships with project teams to ensure objectives are met and solutions remain effective.
2. Functional Advisory & Governance
SME Layer
This section defines the responsibilities that elevate the role from Senior Specialist to true SME.
Act as a functional advisor to projects on best practices for using EcoSys effectively to achieve project controls outcomes.
Define, maintain, and enforce EcoSys standards, templates, and governance frameworks across all project locations.
Review and approve complex configurations, change requests, and system usage approaches submitted by project teams.
Ensure alignment between evolving project execution needs and EcoSys system capabilities.
Provide authoritative guidance during key project phases including start-up, execution, and close-out.
3. Project & User Support
Provide EcoSys system support through ServiceNow, including incident resolution, troubleshooting, and user assistance.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and optimize system usage across functions and project locations.
Monitor system usage to ensure compliance with global standards and that each functions activities support effective EcoSys adoption.
Perform system health checks throughout the project lifecycle and support project closeout with documented lessons learned.
Provide support for interfaces including training, troubleshooting, and data validation guidance.
4. New Release Testing & Deployment Management
Lead testing of all EcoSys modules and interfaces aligned to global configuration standards.
Perform business impact assessment to ensure projects are not negatively impacted by system upgrades or new releases.
Coordinate with the EcoSys vendor for issue resolution and ensure timely closure of reported defects.
Plan and support production rollout, including user communication, readiness planning, and change management.
Monitor post-deployment performance and manage stabilization activities until system stability is confirmed.
5. Integration & Data Flow Management
Provide functional guidance on integration design and data flow between EcoSys and external systems (e.g., Primavera P6, SAPERP, Aconex).
Support validation and troubleshooting of system interfaces to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
Collaborate with interface owners to resolve data mapping issues and ensure seamless system interoperability.
6. Systems Knowledge & Continuous Improvement
Maintain in-depth expertise across all EcoSys modules, project controls processes, and EPC project execution workflows.
Evaluate new system functionality and determine fit-for-purpose adoption aligned with business needs.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, reporting, and data visibility for projects.
Contribute to the EcoSys system roadmap and strategic improvement planning in collaboration with global teams.
Maintain a high-level understanding of external systems particularly in an integration and data-flow perspective.
Required Skills & Experience
Experience Requirements
5+ years of hands-on EcoSys configuration, administration, and support experience.
10+ years overall in application configuration, support, or EPCproject controls environments.
Demonstrated experience in Oil & Gas or EPC industry project delivery.
Proven track record of managing system upgrades, rollouts, and post-deployment stabilization.
Soft Skills & Competencies
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across project and functional teams.
Ability to act as a consultant and advisor not just a support resource.
Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with attention to detail.
Capacity to coordinate effectively across global, multi-disciplinary teams.
Comfortable driving governance and influencing system direction at a strategic level.
