Job Description

Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: Predominantly home-based, with occasional travel to client sites in London. Ideally based near Bristol, Cheltenham, Manchester
Salary: 60,000- 80,000 (individual contributor role, not Team Lead)
Clearance: SC cleared or clearable

About the client
SR2 is supporting on of our long standing consultancy clients who are on a mission to make the UK the safest place to work online. They deliver highly secure, technically challenging projects for UK Government clients. They invest heavily in their people - regular team socials, an annual company trip, five fully paid training days a year, and genuine career progression.

The role
You'll join a small, fast-paced agile delivery team, taking a leading role across the project lifecycle - from architecture and build through to managing customer relationships. There's a big, brand-new AI project on offer right now, genuinely exciting stuff, but very confidential at this stage. It involves taking a newly designed AI system and implementing/scaling it into a live working environment. It requires standard security clearance so ideally you will be cleared already or happy to go through clearance.

What you'll do

  • Build and operate CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code
  • Design platform services for deployment, operation and monitoring of containerised products
  • Build new infrastructure (not just maintain existing environments)
  • Work in public/private cloud, primarily AWS
  • Support Agile delivery (Scrum/Kanban), mentor junior team members, manage customer relationships

What we're looking for

  • Strong AWS experience essential (AWS-focused, not Azure)
  • Solid grounding in security principles and secure-by-design practices
  • Experience with CI/CD, containerisation, IaC, testing frameworks
  • Comfortable leading design work and mentoring early-career engineers
  • Strong stakeholder management skills

Benefits

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays
  • Group pension scheme with matched employer contributions
  • Private health insurance after probation, with option to add family cover
  • Life insurance and personal accident cover
  • Health & wellbeing cash plan (dental, optical, physio and more)
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Cycle to work scheme, season ticket loan, and interest-free PC loan
  • Stock purchase plan with company top-up
  • Five fully paid training days a year and clear routes for career progression

The role is home based with adhoc travel to London. 2 stage interview happening asap.
