Quick Overview
Job Description
Job Title: GenAI Engineer — Orchestration, Capability Discovery & Reusable Skills
Location: Bay Area, CA preferred, with ability to work onsite 1–2 days per week. Remote position
Duration: Long-term contract
This is a senior backend / platform engineering role for someone who has shipped production agent systems — not a data-science or model-training position.
What You''ll Do
- Design and implement agent orchestration, routing, and multi-agent chaining so user requests reach the right specialist agent or tool, in the right order.
- Combine user intent, conversation history, screen context, and active filters into well-structured downstream agent requests.
- Build and maintain a reusable tools-and-skills layer — a capability registry that lets agents discover and reuse existing functionality instead of each team hardcoding its own.
- Define and enforce structured JSON input/output contracts between services, so downstream systems can rely on the shape of what comes back.
- Transform raw agent results into grounded narratives, tables, charts, and citations, producing a consistent response payload for the application.
- Build and deploy this application logic on AWS using Amazon Bedrock and Agent Core.
- Deliver tested, production-ready code independently, with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong Python or TypeScript backend engineering experience — production systems, not scripting.
- Production experience with agent orchestration, tool calling, workflow routing, and multi-agent chaining.
- Strong API and schema design skills, including structured JSON input and output contracts.
- Experience combining user intent, conversation history, screen context, and filters into downstream agent requests.
- Experience transforming agent results into narratives, tables, charts, citations, and consistent application responses.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying GenAI services with AWS, Amazon Bedrock, and Agent Core.
- Ability to independently deliver tested, production-ready code with minimal guidance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building capability registries, agent/tool catalog, workflow skills, or discovery services.
- Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and API-first GenAI applications.
- Experience building analytics applications on top of an existing semantic layer or data-query agent.
