W2- Sr GenAI Engineer

Job Title: GenAI Engineer — Orchestration, Capability Discovery & Reusable Skills

Location: Bay Area, CA preferred, with ability to work onsite 1–2 days per week.  Remote position

Duration: Long-term contract

This is a senior backend / platform engineering role for someone who has shipped production agent systems — not a data-science or model-training position.

What You''ll Do

• Design and implement agent orchestration, routing, and multi-agent chaining so user requests reach the right specialist agent or tool, in the right order.
• Combine user intent, conversation history, screen context, and active filters into well-structured downstream agent requests.
• Build and maintain a reusable tools-and-skills layer — a capability registry that lets agents discover and reuse existing functionality instead of each team hardcoding its own.
• Define and enforce structured JSON input/output contracts between services, so downstream systems can rely on the shape of what comes back.
• Transform raw agent results into grounded narratives, tables, charts, and citations, producing a consistent response payload for the application.
• Build and deploy this application logic on AWS using Amazon Bedrock and Agent Core.
• Deliver tested, production-ready code independently, with minimal supervision.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong Python or TypeScript backend engineering experience — production systems, not scripting.
• Production experience with agent orchestration, tool calling, workflow routing, and multi-agent chaining.
• Strong API and schema design skills, including structured JSON input and output contracts.
• Experience combining user intent, conversation history, screen context, and filters into downstream agent requests.
• Experience transforming agent results into narratives, tables, charts, citations, and consistent application responses.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying GenAI services with AWS, Amazon Bedrock, and Agent Core.
• Ability to independently deliver tested, production-ready code with minimal guidance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building capability registries, agent/tool catalog, workflow skills, or discovery services.
• Experience with MCP (Model Context Protocol) and API-first GenAI applications.
• Experience building analytics applications on top of an existing semantic layer or data-query agent.
