Job Description

HANOR  is hiring a Farm Engineering Technician  to join our team in Western Iowa. In this role you will be maintaining, repairing, and improving facilities owned by Bluestem Farms and managed by The HANOR Company. This is a hands-on role responsible for keeping farm equipment and facility systems operating safely, efficiently, and according to HANOR production standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance to keep facilities and equipment operating efficiently and prevent deterioration.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair farm systems and equipment, including:
    • Feed bins, augers, auger motors, and feeders
    • Switches and electrical components
    • Ventilation systems
    • Plumbing and water wells
    • Alarm systems
    • Incinerators
    • General facility equipment and systems
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures and troubleshooting guidelines.
  • Train farm employees on maintenance procedures and oversee proper implementation.
  • Manage facility projects, including cost proposals, timelines, purchasing, subcontractor coordination, and budget adherence.
  • Assist with oversight of new construction projects as needed.
  • Perform minor concrete work, remodeling, and equipment changes between production turns.
  • Test and inspect equipment between turns to ensure facilities are ready for operation.
  • Follow all company safety requirements and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two to four years of related maintenance experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair mechanical, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems in a livestock, agricultural, or industrial environment.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize work, manage schedules, and take projects through completion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Word, and spreadsheets.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.
  • Experience with livestock handling and manure application is helpful.
  • PQA+ certification is helpful.
  • Individuals working under a TN Visa are ineligible to apply.
