Job Summary
The Motor Control Centers (MCC) Technical Specialist assists customers in design specification and execution of motor control and power products and services.
Essential Functions
- Produce motor control center proposals and bill of materials for internal and external customers and vendor partners.
- Validate and analyze electrical drawings to determine appropriate bill of materials for customer requests.
- Review equipment documentation and perform horsepower and current-load calculations to ensure all electrical equipment is accurately and safely sized for operational requirements.
- Utilize vendor software to generate hardware layouts, specifications, and drawings.
- Respond to customer inquiries related to design, product function capabilities, and applications escalating to Product Specialist and/ or vendor partner as appropriate.
- Negotiate vendor and customer discounts, while calculating and maintaining margin levels based on company guidelines.
- Log opportunities based on proposals created into the customer relationship manager (CRM) within the timeframe established by company guidelines.
- Conduct peer reviews of proposals for accuracy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments including: projects, network solutions, sales, marketing and product management to ensure operational and customer expectations are met.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 1-year certificate from technical school OR 2-3 years of working experience in the electrical or electro-mechanical industries
- Requires knowledge of and the ability to use Microsoft office products including Excel, Outlook and Word
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in the areas of electrical, automation, or electro-mechanical is preferred
- Previous experience with Motor Control Centers (MCCs) is highly preferred
- Previous experience reading electrical prints and specifications
- Electrical Industrial Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master's License
