Your new roleAs a Configuration Management Officer, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Configuration Management (CM) activities across the full project lifecycle. Acting as the primary point of contact for CM-related matters, you will ensure configuration control processes are effectively implemented and maintained while supporting engineering, project, and quality teams.
Key responsibilities- Developing and maintaining Configuration Management plans, policies, procedures, and associated documentation.
- Managing day-to-day CM activities and ensuring compliance with project requirements.
- Establishing and maintaining product baselines, product hierarchies, and configuration records.
- Coordinating Configuration Control Board (CCB) activities, including meeting organisation, documentation, and change control processes.
- Managing asset registers, configuration status accounting, and product identification systems.
- Conducting audits to verify compliance and baseline integrity.
- Supporting supplier data delivery requirements and assessing configuration data packages.
- Tracking CM metrics and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Working closely with Engineering, Project Management, Quality, and external stakeholders to ensure configuration integrity throughout program delivery.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Experience establishing and maintaining Configuration Management systems and supporting tools.
- At least 2 years' experience working with commercial or mature CM tools.
- Experience applying Configuration Management principles within an engineering or project lifecycle environment.
- Experience supporting the delivery of complex systems, ideally including software-based products.
- Strong understanding of configuration control, baseline management, change management, and compliance processes.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A structured, analytical, and detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Defence industry experience and relevant tertiary qualifications will be highly regarded.
