System Protection Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for a System Protection Engineer responsible for designing, analyzing, testing, and maintaining electrical protection and control systems for power generation, transmission, and distribution networks.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop protection and control schemes for electrical power systems.
• Perform short-circuit, load flow, and protection coordination studies.
• Develop and review protection settings for relays, breakers, CTs, and PTs.
• Configure and test protective relays and associated control systems.
• Review electrical drawings, schematics, and protection logic.
• Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of protection systems.
• Analyze relay operations and investigate system faults and disturbances.
• Prepare protection studies, calculation reports, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, commissioning, and field engineering teams.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable IEEE, IEC, and utility standards.
• Support maintenance and upgrades of existing protection systems.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Knowledge of electrical protection principles and power system fundamentals.
• Experience with protective relays, circuit breakers, CTs, PTs, and switchgear.
• Familiarity with protection coordination and fault analysis.
• Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Knowledge of relay testing and commissioning practices.
• Good analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
