Azure Database Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Azure Database Engineer to support a large-scale cloud modernization initiative. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting Azure-based databases and enterprise data lake solutions. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver modern cloud data architectures.

The successful candidate will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to best practices in Azure database administration, security, automation, and data governance.

Design, develop, and maintain Azure relational and non-relational databases.

Build and optimize Azure Data Lake/Lakehouse solutions.

Develop and implement ETL/data transformation pipelines.

Optimize database performance, indexing, and data access patterns.

Configure backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.

Collaborate with engineering teams on cloud infrastructure integration.

Implement security best practices, including RBAC, encryption, and network security.

Develop CI/CD pipelines for database deployments.

Monitor Azure environments using Azure-native monitoring tools.

Maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.

Mentor junior database engineers and provide technical guidance.

7+ years of Azure database engineering experience.

Strong experience with:

Azure SQL Database

Azure Data Lake

Relational & NoSQL databases

Hands-on experience with:

Databricks

Oracle Database

Azure Data Factory

Azure Monitor

Azure Resource Manager (ARM)

Azure CLI / PowerShell

Experience building data transformation pipelines.

Strong knowledge of CI/CD for database deployments.

Experience with backup, recovery, and geo-replication.

Knowledge of cloud infrastructure integration.

Experience implementing:

Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Encryption

Network Security

Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.

Experience with Data Warehouse administration.

Familiarity with Teradata Data Warehouse.

Knowledge of:

Data Modeling

Schema Design

Indexing Strategies

Experience with Azure SQL Managed Instance and Elastic Pools.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Experience mentoring technical teams.

Experience building enterprise Data Lakehouse architectures.

Experience supporting large-scale cloud modernization initiatives.

Experience working in enterprise Azure environments.
