Position Overview

Citadel Security USA is looking for an experienced Field Training Security Officer to provide hands-on guidance and operational support during overnight assignments in Fort Collins. This position combines field instruction, mobile patrol work, officer coaching, and routine security responsibilities.

The Field Training Security Officer will work across multiple assigned locations rather than remaining at a single post. The successful candidate will help new officers understand their responsibilities, demonstrate proper procedures, evaluate field performance, and communicate training needs to leadership. A professional attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead by example are essential.

Field Training & Coaching
  • Work directly with newly hired officers during their initial field assignments.
  • Demonstrate proper patrol methods, observation techniques, communication practices, and reporting standards.
  • Review post instructions and help officers understand daily expectations.
  • Provide practical coaching while officers perform assigned duties.
  • Offer clear and respectful feedback on performance and areas needing improvement.
  • Help new officers develop the confidence needed to work independently.
  • Keep leadership informed about training progress, concerns, and additional coaching needs.

Field Operations
  • Conduct scheduled vehicle and foot patrols at assigned locations.
  • Check designated buildings, parking areas, common spaces, exterior grounds, and access points.
  • Maintain awareness of activity occurring throughout assigned areas.
  • Assist supervisors with maintaining consistent security practices across multiple locations.
  • Reinforce proper procedures when operational issues are identified.
  • Serve as a dependable point of support for officers working during overnight hours.

Security & Incident Response
  • Watch for suspicious activity, property damage, safety hazards, and unusual conditions.
  • Respond appropriately to disturbances, resident concerns, alarms, and other security-related situations.
  • Communicate significant incidents to supervisors or designated contacts.
  • Follow emergency procedures, post orders, and company requirements.
  • Encourage newly trained officers to use sound judgment and appropriate communication when handling concerns.
  • Maintain a calm and professional approach during stressful or unexpected situations.

Reporting & Field Communication
  • Complete accurate activity reports and incident documentation.
  • Record patrol activity using approved company software and mobile applications.
  • Document officer training activities, observations, and areas requiring additional instruction.
  • Maintain consistent communication with supervisors throughout assigned shifts.
  • Provide factual feedback regarding officer performance and operational concerns.
  • Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and on time.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
  • Previous professional security experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, residents, and other members of the public.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to train, coach, and provide constructive feedback to new employees.
  • Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining accountable for assigned responsibilities.
  • Ability to successfully complete required background screening.
  • Ability to work overnight hours and travel between assigned locations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Field Training Officer, Lead Security Officer, or Security Supervisor.
  • Background in residential community or apartment security.
  • Bilingual communication skills.
  • Experience using electronic reporting platforms or workforce management systems.
  • Familiarity with mobile patrol operations.
  • Strong conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
  • Experience evaluating employee performance or providing on-the-job training.
