Senior Mobile Engineer - React Native

We are seeking a Senior Mobile Engineer to shape and build the Xero Accounting App, our flagship mobile experience used by small businesses globally. You will play a key role in evolving our mobile architecture and accelerating our investment in React Native, delivering high-quality customer experiences while maintaining reliability, performance, and engineering excellence. This hands on role involves taking complex features from idea to production, contributing to technical design, and making pragmatic engineering decisions with meaningful ownership. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, backend, and platform teams to solve challenging problems at scale and help reimagine software development through AI integration. The team is based in Melbourne or Sydney, with hybrid work flexibility and regular collaboration across locations.

The ideal candidate has strong experience building and shipping production mobile apps using React Native, with a deep understanding of scalability, performance, and reliability. You should have end to end ownership of complex features, including technical design, implementation, release, and ongoing operation. Experience working across the mobile/backend boundary, including APIs or BFF patterns, is highly valuable. You must have shipped software to large user bases and understand how architectural decisions evolve with scale. You make balanced technical choices that prioritize delivery, customer impact, and long term maintainability. You mentor others, raise engineering standards through code reviews and collaboration, and leverage AI assisted development and automation to improve efficiency.
