Founding Platform Engineer

About the Role

This role sits above individual product pods and owns the company''s underwriting platform, including:

• Central data backbone
• Model serving
• Experimentation and backtesting
• Underwriting workbenches
• Agentic AI research workflows

Key Responsibilities

• Build and own the central insurance data platform.
• Develop model deployment and serving infrastructure.
• Create experimentation and backtesting systems.
• Build AI-assisted underwriting workbenches.
• Develop agentic workflows for research and product validation.
• Design governance, auditing, and compliance workflows.
• Work directly with the CEO, CTO, and Chief Underwriting Officer to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Requirements

A. Built a highly configurable internal platform or workbench (not customer-facing software).

B. Strong systems architecture background from:

• AI lab
• Big Tech
• Startup building ML infrastructure and workflows

(Not necessarily someone who builds ML models.)

C. Comfortable prioritizing architecture and functionality over UI polish since this is internal tooling.

D. Experience designing enterprise-grade systems involving:

• Large-scale data
• Machine learning infrastructure
• Agentic AI systems

Bonus Skills

• Product management experience at a large technology company.
• Strong product thinking.
• Ability to work directly with executives and translate business ideas into technical execution.
