Key Responsibilities
  • Build, enhance and maintain data pipelines to extract, transform and load data (ETL).
  • Apply software engineering and DataOps best practices to develop, test and deploy high-quality data solutions.
  • Work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand business challenges and translate requirements into effective engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with data architects, scientists, analysts and other teams to support end-to-end data delivery.
  • Develop and maintain cloud-based data infrastructure and services for data storage and processing.
  • Apply best practices in data management, orchestration, security and data modelling.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly and build effective relationships across the business.
  • Adapt to evolving data engineering technologies, tools and techniques.
  • Ensure data solutions meet the needs of downstream consumers and align with wider business objectives.
Senior-Level Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership to data engineering teams and establish effective delivery frameworks.
  • Engage with business stakeholders to define project requirements, work packages and team structures.
  • Lead technical design sessions and support the selection of strategic data products and platform technologies.
  • Promote engineering best practices and support the successful delivery of data projects.
  • Develop broader expertise across data modelling, architecture, strategy, data science and analytics.
  • Demonstrate increasing technical depth and breadth across a range of data engineering tools and platforms.
  • Mentor colleagues and contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous professional development.
Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in several of the following areas:

  • Strong data engineering experience, including building and maintaining data pipelines.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python or similar programming languages.
  • Knowledge of software engineering principles and DataOps practices.
  • Understanding of data management, data modelling, orchestration and data security.
  • Experience establishing or managing cloud-based data infrastructure and storage solutions.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and organisational functions.
  • The ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
