The role

We’re looking for a Bid Writer to join the Opencast Bid Team on a 12 month fixed term contract.  Working with colleagues across Opencast, you will be responsible for developing high-quality, compelling responses which showcases our credentials, expertise and delivery experience in response to client requirements.

Opencast works across a range of public sector frameworks, so you will have the opportunity to work on bids of varying size and complexity. In addition to bid writing, you will also have an opportunity to get involved in continuous improvement activities, which will involve contributing to process improvements.

Requirements

  • Writing clear, persuasive, and compliant tender responses which articulate win themes, differentiators, and unique selling points
  • Supporting the development of bid storyboards and response structures.
  • Ensuring responses address evaluation criteria and scoring requirements.
  • Applying best-practice bid writing techniques to improve quality and competitiveness.
  • Support bid reviews and incorporate feedback from reviewers and stakeholders.
  • Maintaining bid content and reusable knowledge assets. 

Essential experience

We’ll want you to demonstrate experience in bid writing, with strong time management, attention to detail and communication skills.. You don’t need to have had the job title of Bid Writer before, and we encourage applications from candidates that can demonstrate these core skills:

  • Bid-writing experience, ideally within a technology consultancy.
  • Knowledge of technology consultancy services, delivery methods and technologies.
  • Experience responding to government frameworks, including DOS or similar public sector opportunities.
  • Experience working collaboratively to identify win themes and differentiators.
  • Experience developing storyboards and structured answer plans.
  • Experience analysing evaluation criteria and improving bid responses.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids and competing deadlines.

The following would also be helpful: 

  • Experience of writing joint bid responses with partner organisations
  • Knowledge of digital transformation, user-centred design, agile delivery, cloud, data, AI, and software engineering services

As well as bid management experience, there are essential core skills you’ll need to excel in this role:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A keen eye for detail and a strong commitment to quality
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities in parallel
  • Ability to articulate benefits and align them with client needs
  • Curiosity, willingness to learn and a naturally inquisitive approach
  • A problem-solving mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo
  • A collaborative, team-focused approach 

Interview

Your skills and experience will be explored at interview, where we’ll ask you to describe how you approach bid writing deliver successful proposals, and engage stakeholders. If you’re successful in the first interview, we’ll invite you back to meet with colleagues that you will be working with outside of the bid team, which will give you an insight into the stakeholders that you would typically collaborate on bids with. 

Salary 

Salary range for this role: £50,000-£65,000


Where you’ll work  

Your working time at Opencast will be split between multiple locations, including from our HQ and hub locations, client site or home. This varies in frequency, and takes into account requirements of your work and your team
