Finance Manager Requirements & Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in a non-profit organization
  • Demonstrated experience preparing monthly financial reports
  • Strong understanding of general ledger and accounts receivable processes
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work collaboratively with non-financial stakeholders


Finance Manager Preferred Background & Skills


  • Familiarity with independent school or nonprofit financial operations
  • Experience with tuition management or student information systems
  • Advanced skills using Excel


Staff Accountant Day-to-Day Responsibilities


  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly financial statements and internal management reports
  • Oversee accounts receivable, focusing on tuition billing, collections, and reconciliations
  • Analyze and explain budget variances; ensure data integrity and compliance with controls
  • Collaborate with admissions, payroll, and AP staff to ensure accurate and timely information
  • Support year-end close, audits, and financial compliance activities
  • Maintain organized financial records and suggest improvements for processes and reporting
