Title: Mechanical Test Engineer
Location: Northridge, CA (100% onsite)
Duration: 6 month contract, long-term/reoccurring extensions & conversion to FTE possible
Compensation: $80/hr - $90/hr
Work Requirements: Export Control Requirement - Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop test plans, procedures, and assembly instructions for satellite subassemblies and mechanical integration.
- Coordinate environmental testing, both in-house and with external test facilities.
- Support mechanical integration, assembly, and troubleshooting of aerospace hardware.
- Create and maintain engineering documentation and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and test teams to meet project milestones and improve processes.
Core Requirements
- 5+ years mechanical engineering/integration experience in aerospace or avionics
- Proven experience writing test plans, test procedures, and assembly instructions for complex aerospace hardware
- Hands-on familiarity with environmental qualification testing: thermal, vibration, shock
- Experience with GSE/MGSE (Ground Support Equipment / Mechanical GSE) — supporting design, use, or maintenance
- Solid grounding in mechanical assembly fundamentals: GD&T, torque specs, ESD procedures, tooling
Nice-to-Have Skills
- SolidWorks, Siemens NX, or Siemens Xpedition (XP)
- Exposure to PLM/PDM, MRP, QMS, or configuration management tools
- AS9100 familiarity
