QA Automation Engineer (Java & C++)

Job Summary

We are seeking a versatile and highly technical Software Engineer in Test (SDET) / QA Automation Engineer to join our Quality Engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our high-throughput backend applications.

The ideal candidate bridges the gap between development and quality assurance, possessing strong programming skills in Java and C++ combined with a deep understanding of both manual and automated testing methodologies. You will design automation frameworks, validate complex data layers in Oracle/SQL, and leverage Linux/Unix Shell Scripting to manage environments and streamline execution.

Responsibilities

End-to-End Testing Strategy: Design, implement, and execute comprehensive manual and automated test strategies across complex Java Spring Boot and native C++ backend systems.

Automation Framework Development: Build, scale, and maintain robust test automation frameworks for APIs, microservices, and user interfaces.

Backend & Database Validation: Write complex Oracle/SQL queries to perform deep database-level testing, validate data integrity, and perform end-to-end transaction tracking.

Environment & Scripting Operations: Work extensively in Linux/Unix environments to monitor system logs, debug software failures, and write Shell scripts to automate test execution pipelines.

Defect Analysis & Debugging: Isolate, replicate, and document complex software defects. Collaborate directly with development teams to analyze root causes in both managed (Java) and unmanaged (C++) codebases.

CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test suites into continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure continuous quality gates.

Technical Requirements

Testing & Quality Assurance

·         Test Methodologies: Strong foundation in software QA methodologies, tools, and processes (Functional, Regression, Integration, Smoke, and Performance testing).

·         Automation Tools: Extensive hands-on experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Rest Assured, Playwright, Cucumber, or JBehave).

·         API Testing: Proficient in testing RESTful APIs and microservices using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or code-based libraries.

Programming & Backend Systems

·         Java & Spring Boot: Strong programming proficiency in Java with experience testing and debugging applications built on the Spring Boot framework.

·         C++: Practical programming or test-automation experience with C++ applications, including a solid understanding of object-oriented concepts and memory management.

·         Databases: Strong proficiency in Oracle or other relational databases; ability to write, debug, and optimize complex SQL queries.

Systems & Infrastructure

·         Operating Systems: Comfortable navigating and operating in Linux/Unix environments.

·         Scripting: Proficient in Shell Scripting (Bash/Ksh) or Python for automation, log analysis, and system utility tasks.

·         Version Control & CI/CD: Hands-on experience with Git/Bitbucket and building/running automated tests within Jenkins pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

·         Experience: 7+ years of experience in software development or test automation (SDET) roles.

·         Methodology: Active experience working in fast-paced Agile/Scrum environments.

·         Domain Knowledge: Previous experience working on highly secure, low-latency, or transactional platforms (e.g., FinTech, Payment Gateways, or Telecom) is highly desirable.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
