Nitya Capital, LLC is seeking a highly qualified Real Estate Litigation Attorney to provide legal support to its in-house legal department. Nitya oversees real estate portfolios that include multifamily, office, and student housing. This position requires a professional with a strong litigation background and a minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience preferably in real estate law, property management, leasing and/or insurance defense. The role will also require the ability to effectively resolve pre-litigation disputes and the ability to collaborate effectively with operational, compliance, and senior management teams.---
Position Overview
The Real Estate Litigation Attorney will report directly to the General Counsel and work with the legal department’s senior paralegal. The role will be responsible for answering petitions, responding to discovery and attending hearings, mostly in the Houston metropolitan area, and working with outside litigation counsel on matters in other jurisdictions.---
Primary Responsibilities
· Draft pleadings and motions, respond to discovery, attend hearings and mediations and manage outside litigation.
· Provide legal guidance on landlord-tenant matters, fair housing compliance, and applicable regulatory requirements.
· Support property operations by advising on resident disputes, evictions, and policy interpretation.
· Assist the General Counsel with due diligence activities related to the acquisitions, dispositions, and refinances of properties.
· Conduct legal risk assessments and present recommendations to leadership.
· Maintain current knowledge of Texas real estate law and multifamily housing regulations.
· Be able to effectively use AI technology to create more efficiencies in mundane tasks.

Qualifications
· Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
· Active license to practice law in the State of Texas.
· Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ litigation experience in real estate law; multifamily housing experience strongly preferred.
· Comprehensive understanding of landlord-tenant law, fair housing regulations, and property management operations.
· Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
· Prior experience supporting property management organizations is advantageous.
