Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned OpenShift Platform Engineer to support and maintain a large-scale, on-premises Red Hat OpenShift 4.x environment. This role is responsible for platform administration, lifecycle management, cluster upgrades, patching, GitOps deployments using Argo CD, storage management with Portworx, and ongoing operational support. The engineer will collaborate with development teams to deploy containerized applications, resolve platform issues, and participate in scheduled maintenance activities outside of standard business hours as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Administer and support an enterprise OpenShift 4.x platform hosted in an on-premises environment.
  • Perform platform upgrades, routine patching, operator lifecycle management, and cluster maintenance.
  • Deploy and manage applications using GitOps methodologies with Argo CD.
  • Administer and support Portworx storage within Kubernetes/OpenShift clusters.
  • Troubleshoot platform, infrastructure, and application-related issues across the container platform.
  • Partner with application teams to onboard workloads and promote containerization best practices.
  • Maintain platform reliability, performance, and operational health through ongoing monitoring and maintenance.
  • Participate in planned maintenance windows and provide support during occasional after-hours activities.
  • Document operational procedures and collaborate with cross-functional infrastructure and engineering teams.

Must Haves
  • Recent hands-on experience administering Red Hat OpenShift 4.x in a large enterprise environment.
  • Strong experience managing on-premises OpenShift deployments, including infrastructure integration and platform lifecycle management.
  • Recent experience implementing and supporting Argo CD and GitOps deployment practices.
  • Hands-on administration and support of Portworx storage in Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
  • Experience performing cluster upgrades, platform patching, operator management, troubleshooting, and ongoing production support.
  • Experience deploying, onboarding, and supporting enterprise applications on OpenShift or Kubernetes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience collaborating effectively in remote environments.

Nice to Haves
  • Experience supporting Azure environments or migrating workloads from on-premises infrastructure to Azure.
  • Knowledge of Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (ACS) for container security, vulnerability management, and compliance.
  • Background in Platform Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), DevOps, or Kubernetes administration.
  • Relevant Red Hat certifications such as RHCE, RHCA, or OpenShift Administration certifications.
  • Experience with AWS cloud platforms and cloud migration initiatives.
  • Familiarity with OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF) or other Kubernetes storage platforms in addition to Portworx.
