Server Administrator



Job Type: Contract

Location: Providence, RI (Onsite)

Duration: 6 Months

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Server Administrator to support enterprise server infrastructure within a modern data center environment. The ideal candidate will assist with day-to-day server administration, system monitoring, maintenance, patch management, and troubleshooting while collaborating with senior infrastructure teams to ensure reliable and secure operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior systems administrators with daily server operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance within the enterprise data center.
  • Install operating system patches, security updates, and server firmware.
  • Monitor server performance, health, availability, and system capacity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server hardware, operating system, and infrastructure issues.
  • Maintain technical documentation and follow established operational procedures.
  • Participate in scheduled maintenance windows, including occasional after-hours support.
  • Assist in maintaining stable, secure, and highly available server environments.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise server environments in modern data centers.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with server maintenance, patch management, and infrastructure monitoring.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux server administration.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team.
  • Willingness to participate in scheduled after-hours maintenance activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting IT infrastructure in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with enterprise server monitoring, backup, and infrastructure support tools.
