We are seeking an experienced MS Engineer L2 (Platform) to join our Network Operations Centre (NOC) team in Canberra.

In this role, you'll support and maintain complex platform infrastructure within a mission-critical, 24x7 operational environment, helping to ensure the reliability, availability, and performance of systems that support nationally significant services. This position is ideal for a platform engineer with strong experience across Windows and Linux environments, virtualization, automation, and infrastructure operations who thrives in a highly regulated and security-focused environment.

What You'll Be Doing

As an MS Engineer L2, you will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and improving enterprise platform infrastructure across a managed services environment.

  • Investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs
  • Proactively identifying issues before they impact operations and driving timely resolution
  • Planning, coordinating, and implementing infrastructure changes within approved change windows
  • Monitoring performance, availability, and capacity across supported systems
  • Supporting problem management activities and addressing recurring issues
  • Developing and improving automation to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort
  • Testing software releases, patches, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Creating and maintaining technical documentation and operational procedures
  • Supporting project delivery and operational handover activities
  • Assisting with onboarding new environments into managed services support
  • Mentoring Level 1 engineers and sharing technical expertise
  • Operating within established security, compliance, and governance frameworks
  • Participating in a 24x7 operational support and on-call environment
Technical Environment

You'll work across a modern enterprise platform stack including: Core Technologies Windows Server SOE Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Active Directory Certificate Authority Domain Services DDI Management VMware VMware vSAN Cisco HyperFlex Data Platform Cohesity Tanium SFTP and utility server platforms Automation & DevOps Ansible Packer GitLab Infrastructure automation and orchestration Image build and deployment processes Monitoring & Observability LogicMonitor Infrastructure performance monitoring Availability management and proactive alerting Security & Access Management Active Directory integration Privileged Access Management (XTAM / Imprivata) Patch compliance and vulnerability remediation Security and governance frameworks.

What We're Looking For
  • Essential Experience 3-5 years of experience supporting enterprise platform infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience across Windows Server and Linux server environments
  • Strong experience with virtualization technologies including VMware
  • Experience supporting complex infrastructure deployments and production environments
  • Experience managing change control processes and operational support activities
  • Exposure to managed services environments and IT operational frameworks
  • Experience with enterprise ticketing platforms, preferably ServiceNow
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Qualifications & Security Requirements
  • Mandatory Australian Citizenship
  • Baseline Security Clearance, or the ability to obtain one
  • Recognised Diploma in Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Highly Desirable Windows Server certifications or equivalent experience
  • RHEL/Linux certifications or equivalent experience
  • Active Directory expertise or certification
  • Ansible and/or Packer certification or advanced practical experience
  • VMware and virtualization certifications
  • Experience with Privileged Access Management (PAM) solutions such as XTAM (Imprivata)
  • Desirable Experience with ITIL, ISO27000, ISO9001, ISM, or related frameworks
