Platform Architect (Senior Solution / Enterprise Architect)

Location: Predominantly remote, with approximately one day per month in Stevenage
Contract: Outside IR35

An opportunity for an experienced Platform Architect operating at Senior Solution Architect or Enterprise Architect level to support a major UK infrastructure capital programme.

You'll shape the architecture of platforms being introduced across a complex enterprise environment, ensuring they integrate effectively, align with wider technology standards and can be supported long after the programme has finished.

This role combines strategic architecture, technical assurance and hands-on solution design, working closely with senior stakeholders, architecture teams and multiple delivery partners. Strong Salesforce platform and integration architecture experience is essential, alongside broader cloud and enterprise architecture expertise.

Platform Architect Responsibilities

• Define target platform architectures aligned with enterprise standards, technology roadmaps and programme objectives.

• Own end-to-end solution architecture, from options appraisal and technology selection through to detailed design.

• Establish integration, data and security architecture patterns across multiple platforms.

• Review, challenge and assure technical designs from internal teams and external suppliers.

• Present architecture decisions, risks, dependencies and trade-offs to design authorities and programme governance forums.

• Plan architectural transitions, migrations and decommissioning activities, ensuring a clear route from current to target state.

• Work with existing architecture and support teams to ensure platforms are operationally sustainable.

• Lead knowledge transfer and operational handover so internal teams can support platforms independently.

• Build effective relationships with senior technical and business stakeholders, suppliers and delivery partners.

Platform Architect Requirements

• Significant experience as a Senior Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect or Platform Architect on large, complex programmes.

• Strong Salesforce experience, including platform and integration architecture.

• Broad platform architecture experience across SaaS solutions and cloud technologies, particularly Azure and AWS.

• Strong solution architecture, integration design, technology evaluation and enterprise architecture alignment skills.

• Experience working with design authorities, technical governance forums and senior programme stakeholders.

• Confidence reviewing and challenging designs across multiple suppliers and delivery teams.

• Experience planning migrations, architectural transitions and operational handovers.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical decisions and trade-offs clearly.

Experience in regulated industries, critical infrastructure or large infrastructure organisations would be advantageous.
