Job Description

Role Summary
This position involves conducting comprehensive site surveys at remote field locations to support large-scale Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure assessments. It requires technical expertise in telecommunications, networking, and industrial control systems, with a focus on documenting existing communication infrastructure and performing cellular connectivity assessments. The role demands independence, attention to detail, and a strong safety orientation to operate effectively in diverse outdoor environments across Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Travel extensively to remote oil and gas fields throughout Texas to perform on-site site surveys.
  • Complete standardized documentation for each location, verifying GPS coordinates, site details, and equipment inventory.
  • Capture high-quality photographs of the overall site layout, communications equipment, power infrastructure, antennas, radios, modems, networking gear, and labels.
  • Document current communications infrastructure, including cellular solutions, serial radio systems, Cradlepoint devices, ZetaWave radios, and remote telemetry equipment.
  • Conduct cellular coverage and signal strength assessments utilizing provided tools and technologies.
  • Upload survey data and documentation daily, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate check-in and check-out procedures with operations personnel on site.
  • Collaborate with project schedulers and field contacts to optimize route planning and site access.
  • Maintain detailed records of survey findings and completed tasks, adhering to operational standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working within oil and gas, pipeline, energy, industrial, utility, or field services environments.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and field operating practices in remote locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and document telecommunications, networking, or industrial control equipment.
  • Experience conducting field inspections, assessments, audits, or site surveys.
  • Comfortable working independently in remote outdoor environments.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Willingness and ability to travel throughout Texas extensively.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable of walking uneven terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting equipment up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications (Preferred)

  • Field networking or telecommunications experience.
  • Familiarity with OT, SCADA, RTU, and industrial communication systems.
  • Knowledge of cellular routers, antennas, modems, and radio communications systems.
  • Prior experience with Cradlepoint, Sierra Wireless, Cisco, or industrial networking equipment.
  • Experience within pipeline, midstream, or energy sectors.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and mobile data collection tools.
  • Strong adherence to safety protocols, including PPE usage such as flame-resistant clothing, steel-toe boots, hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and 4-gas monitors.

Publishing Pay Range: $30.00 - $45.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
