Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Jira Administrator to manage, configure, and optimize Jira environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience administering Jira Cloud or Data Center, configuring workflows and automation, managing permissions, and integrating Jira with external systems.

The candidate must be comfortable working in an undocumented, in-progress environment, identifying existing configurations, troubleshooting issues, and creating clear technical documentation to support ongoing operations and a smooth offboarding process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center environments.

  • Configure and manage workflows, custom fields, screens, permission schemes, and project settings.

  • Develop and maintain Jira automation rules to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency.

  • Create, modify, and optimize Jira Query Language (JQL) queries and filters.

  • Configure Jira email handlers and mail-to-ticket ingestion for automated ticket creation.

  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot integrations between Jira and external systems using REST APIs, webhooks, and middleware.

  • Investigate existing Jira configurations and resolve issues in an undocumented or partially implemented environment.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend appropriate Jira configuration solutions.

  • Maintain clear technical documentation covering configurations, workflows, integrations, automation rules, and administrative procedures.

  • Prepare comprehensive handover and offboarding documentation to ensure continuity of support and knowledge transfer.

  • Troubleshoot integration failures, permission issues, automation errors, and ticket-ingestion problems.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience administering Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center.

  • Strong knowledge of Jira workflows, automation rules, custom fields, screens, and permission schemes.

  • Proficiency in Jira Query Language (JQL).

  • Practical experience integrating Jira with external systems using REST APIs, webhooks, or middleware-based solutions.

  • Experience configuring Jira email handlers and mail-to-ticket ingestion.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently in an undocumented, evolving technical environment.

  • Excellent technical writing skills, including configuration documentation, knowledge transfer, and offboarding guides.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
