Job Description

Title: Senior Debian Engineer

Location: Midtown Manhattan, NY (Hybrid)

Duration: 1-Year Renewable Contract

Schedule: Candidates must work onsite for the first six months. Hybrid or remote may be offered thereafter.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience working for U.S. companies in the United States.
4+ years of recent experience (within the last 7 years) working in a banking or brokerage environment.
5+ years of recent experience as a Debian Engineer.
10+ years of Linux (RHEL) administration experience with at least 5 years of recent Debian administration/engineering experience.
Recent hands-on experience migrating enterprise environments from RHEL to Debian.
Experience administering Debian versions 7 (Wheezy), 8 (Jessie), 9 (Stretch/9.7), and exposure to Debian 10 (Buster).
Strong experience administering and troubleshooting Debian enterprise environments.
Extensive UNIX (HP-UX, Solaris) and Linux (Debian, RHEL) administration and scripting experience.
Experience with Debian kernel tuning and performance optimization.
Experience with BMC BladeLogic.
Experience with VMware virtualization technologies.
Strong troubleshooting skills for performance, connectivity, and system issues.
Experience managing configuration changes within large enterprise data center environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced enterprise environment.
 

Responsibilities

Join a newly formed enterprise Debian engineering team supporting a large financial services environment.
Perform enterprise migrations from Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) to Debian.
Administer and support Debian Linux environments, including troubleshooting, performance tuning, patching, upgrades, and maintenance.
Design, develop, and maintain automated security compliance content for Linux/Debian operating systems using BMC BladeLogic.
Support operating system automation, patch deployment, configuration management, compliance reporting, and scripting.
Provide technical support for Linux infrastructure, including Debian, RHEL, HP-UX, Solaris, and Windows server environments.
Collaborate with infrastructure teams to maintain secure, stable, and highly available enterprise Linux environments.
