Position Overview

• We are seeking an experienced AWS DynamoDB Database Architect to lead the discovery, analysis, architecture, and migration strategy for transitioning an existing on-premises Oracle database environment to Amazon DynamoDB.
• The consultant will assess the current Oracle environment, identify data and application dependencies, evaluate migration feasibility, define source-to-target mappings, and design the target-state DynamoDB architecture.
• The engagement will focus on producing a comprehensive migration strategy, reviewing AWS landing-zone readiness, developing an AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) strategy, and defining a proof of concept to validate the proposed migration approach.
• This is a strategy-oriented consulting role. The selected consultant will provide architecture recommendations, migration plans, design documentation, and POC validation criteria. The consultant will not be responsible for building AWS landing zones, implementing infrastructure, developing application landing pages, or executing the full migration.

Required Qualifications

• Strong experience in database architecture, data migration strategy, or enterprise data platform modernization.
• Demonstrated experience assessing Oracle database environments and planning migrations to AWS.
• Strong understanding of Amazon DynamoDB architecture, data modeling, key design, indexes, access patterns, and scalability.
• Experience mapping relational database structures to NoSQL target data models.
• Strong understanding of Oracle schemas, tables, data types, relationships, SQL workloads, and application dependencies.
• Experience evaluating AWS Database Migration Service (AWS DMS) and database migration approaches.
• Ability to assess source-to-target compatibility, transformation requirements, data integrity, and migration constraints.
• Experience producing architecture diagrams, migration strategy documents, assessment reports, and technical recommendations.
• Ability to review AWS landing-zone readiness and identify prerequisites and gaps without implementing the infrastructure.
• Experience defining POC scope, success criteria, validation scenarios, and technical acceptance criteria.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a consulting engagement with a clearly defined advisory scope.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional.
• AWS Certified Database - Specialty, if held.
• AWS Certified Data Engineer - Associate, if relevant to the candidate's background.
• Experience with Oracle-to-NoSQL modernization or comparable relational-to-DynamoDB initiatives.
• Experience with AWS SCT, AWS DMS, data transformation, and change data capture concepts.
• Experience designing high-scale DynamoDB solutions with complex access patterns.
• Experience with enterprise cloud landing zones, security architecture, and migration governance.
• Experience evaluating migration cost, performance, scalability, and operational trade-offs.

Expected Deliverables

• Current-State Assessment: Oracle database inventory, workload analysis, application dependencies, and migration constraints.
• Feasibility Assessment: Evaluation of DynamoDB suitability, compatibility gaps, and required application or data-model changes.
• Source-to-Target Mapping: Proposed mapping of Oracle schemas, tables, and attributes to DynamoDB entities and structures.
• Target-State Architecture: DynamoDB data model, key strategy, index design, access patterns, and architecture diagrams.
• Landing-Zone Readiness Assessment: AWS prerequisites, gaps, dependencies, and recommendations.
• AWS DMS Strategy: Recommended migration pattern, transformation considerations, limitations, and validation approach.
• POC Plan: Scope, test scenarios, success criteria, data validation, and performance evaluation.
• Risk and Decision Register: Technical risks, assumptions, dependencies, open questions, and mitigation recommendations.
• Migration Roadmap: Phased approach, implementation prerequisites, and recommended next steps.

Scope Boundaries

• This is an architecture and strategy engagement.
• The consultant will be responsible for discovery, analysis, architecture, mapping, migration strategy, readiness review, and POC planning or advisory validation.
• The consultant will not be responsible for:
• Building or implementing the AWS landing zone.
• Performing full-scale database migration execution.
• Developing application landing pages or user interfaces.
• Owning infrastructure provisioning or production deployment.
• Delivering the complete production implementation.
• The consultant may review technical POC results and provide recommendations, but the primary deliverable is the migration strategy and architecture plan.
