🚨 HIRING:  LEAD CLOUD ENGINEER  /  PRINCIPAL CLOUD ENGINEER

📍 Location: 100% US Remote

🎯 Role Overview

We are looking for a highly experienced Lead/Principal Cloud Engineer with strong expertise in cloud architecture, platform engineering, security, reliability, automation, and hands-on delivery.

This is a high-impact, design-centric role where you will own complex cloud solution designs and create implementation-ready architectures that engineering teams can confidently execute.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

🔹 Lead end-to-end cloud architecture and detailed solution design
🔹 Design scalable, secure, reliable, and cost-effective cloud platforms
🔹 Create logical & physical architectures, network models, identity models, and security controls
🔹 Develop ADRs, reference architectures, golden paths, design patterns, standards, and guardrails
🔹 Build prototypes and spike solutions to validate complex technical designs
🔹 Create reference implementations using IaC, CI/CD templates, policy-as-code, and sample services
🔹 Provide technical leadership, conduct architecture/design reviews, and review PRs
🔹 Establish secure-by-default cloud environments, landing zones, governance, and compliance controls
🔹 Design HA, DR, multi-region, multi-zone, resilience, and scaling strategies
🔹 Define observability standards including logs, metrics, tracing, SLOs/SLIs, alerting, and incident response
🔹 Drive operational readiness through runbooks, postmortems, error budgets, and on-call enablement
🔹 Lead FinOps, cost optimization, capacity planning, and performance optimization
🔹 Mentor engineers and drive cloud engineering best practices
🔹 Evaluate cloud vendors and technology partners; support RFP/RFI, technical due diligence, and vendor selection

Must-Have Skills

✔️ 10+ years of software/platform engineering experience
✔️ Significant experience owning and leading cloud architecture at scale
✔️ Strong hands-on cloud engineering and implementation experience
✔️ Terraform strongly preferred
✔️ CloudFormation or Bicep experience acceptable
✔️ CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or equivalent
✔️ Containers & orchestration: Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, GKE
✔️ Strong expertise in IAM, RBAC, OAuth/OIDC, and least-privilege access
✔️ Cloud networking: VPC/VNet, routing, peering, private endpoints, DNS, Zero Trust
✔️ Cloud security: encryption, key management, secrets, threat modeling, posture management
✔️ Reliability engineering: HA, DR, multi-zone, multi-region architecture
✔️ Observability: structured logging, distributed tracing, metrics, SLOs
✔️ Experience creating ADRs, reference architectures, engineering patterns, and well-architected reviews
✔️ Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical trade-offs to both engineering and executive stakeholders

Multi-cloud experience: AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform
Hybrid cloud architecture experience
API Management & API-first architecture
Event-driven architecture, event streaming, messaging, and service mesh
Data lakes, lakehouses, streaming, batch processing, and data governance
Policy-as-Code: OPA/Gatekeeper, Azure Policy, AWS SCPs
FinOps and cloud cost optimization
AWS Solutions Architect Professional
Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Google Cloud Platform Professional Cloud Architect
CKA / CKAD / CCSP certifications
