Job Description

Scottish Power Transmissions are looking for a Sustainability Senior Analyst to join them on a 12 month ongoing contract basis based in Cambuslang.

Purpose

SP Transmission (SPT) is delivering a portfolio of nationally significant High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) projects that are critical to achieving the UK's Net Zero ambitions and enabling the transition to a low-carbon energy system. These projects involve the construction of converter stations, subsea and onshore cable infrastructure, and associated transmission assets designed to connect renewable generation and strengthen the electricity network.

As a member of the SPT Sustainability Team, the Sustainability Senior Analyst will play a key role in monitoring, analysing and reporting sustainability performance across the HVDC project portfolio. The role will support the delivery of ambitious sustainability objectives relating to carbon reduction, circular economy, resource efficiency, biodiversity, social value and responsible supply chains.

Responsibilities


Data Management & Analysis

  • Collect, analyse, and validate sustainability data from internal and external sources
  • Develop and maintain databases and dashboards to track performance metrics
  • Use chosen tools for HVDC data management and onboard suppliers
  • Apply judgement to data, identifying data quality issues and suggesting solutions and improvements to data and reporting processes
  • Perform trend analysis and benchmarking to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure all sources and recipients of sustainability data are clearly defined and captured
  • Responsible for finding new ways of working to help eliminate, standardise, simplify, and automate current processes to ensure they are as efficient as possible and meet business requirements
  • Develop and implement a data audit process to ensure accuracy of supplier data


Reporting & Disclosure

  • Prepare internal sustainability reports, analysing and communicating performance against targets and goals, providing interpretation of results
  • Lead external reporting obligations for HVDC projects, including Annual Environmental Reports (Ofgem), and the SPEN submission to the Iberdrola Sustainability Report.
  • Effectively manage time and priorities to consistently meet strict internal and external reporting deadlines


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage external contractor relationships to collect relevant data and insights, including establishing regular meetings and reporting schedules
  • Support internal and external communications on sustainability performance and initiatives


Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement improvements in data collection, quality and reporting processes
  • Support the digitalisation of sustainability data, suggesting improvements to current processes


Skills and Requirements

  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline e.g., sustainability/environmental, data science/analytics or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and rigorous approach to data management and attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power-bi
  • Proficient in identifying root causes of issues and applying structured problem-solving techniques to develop effective, data-driven solutions.
  • Experienced in working with data management and reporting systems.
  • Experience of monitoring performance metrics against goals and targets.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Awareness of methodologies and regulatory requirements such as GHG Protocol, CSRD and SASB.
  • Experience of working in a multi-project environment with time constrained and sometimes conflicting deadlines.

Minimum Criteria (mandatory)

  • Criteria Essential/Desirable
  • Degree level qualification, preferably in a sustainability/environmental, data science/analytics or a related field.
  • Demonstrable advanced experience of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and rigorous approach to data management and attention to detail
  • Practical understanding of the Utilities Industry
