Job Description

The Opportunity

Are you a hands-on fixer who loves keeping complex machinery running at peak performance? Do you live and breathe mechanical engineering, but also know your way around a control panel without breaking a sweat?

We are a leading developer and manufacturer of plastic parts. We design and build the systems that keep modern industries running cool, efficient, and reliable. As our new Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will be the backbone of our production facilitykeeping our specialized machinery humming, minimizing downtime, and ensuring our operations run like clockwork.

If you have a strong mechanical bias paired with practical, basic electrical know-how, we want to hear from you.

This is working a 4 day week - Mon - Thursday 6am - 4pm (Fridays off) - Overtime available.

What Youll Be Doing

No two days are quite the same, but here is what you can expect to tackle:

  • Preventative & Reactive Maintenance: Conduct planned maintenance (PPM) and rapid-response repairs on a variety of mechanical plant machinery, conveyors, and thermal processing equipment.

  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical faults (pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, gearboxes) and carry out effective, long-term repairs.

  • Basic Electrical Tasks: Safely perform minor electrical duties, such as disconnecting/reconnecting motors, replacing faulty sensors, resetting trips, and basic fault-finding.

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks in our processes and suggest mechanical modifications to improve machine reliability and safety.

  • Safety First: Maintain a pristine working environment, ensuring all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

What Were Looking For

We value practical ability and a proactive attitude above all else. To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • The Foundation: A formal qualification in Mechanical Engineering (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent apprenticeship).

  • The Multi-Skilled Edge: Proven experience with basic electrical systems. You dont need to be a fully certified industrial electrician, but you must be comfortable and safe working with low-voltage controls, motors, and sensors.

  • The Diagnostic Mindset: Exceptional fault-finding skills across pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical drive systems.

  • The Right Attitude: A self-motivated team player who can work independently under pressure and manage their own workload.

  • Bonus Points: Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing, thermal, or process engineering environment.

Whats In It For You?

We believe in taking care of the people who keep us moving. In return for your hard work, we offer:

  • Competitive Salary with regular reviews.

  • On-the-job Training and genuine opportunities to progress your career and upskill (including support for further electrical certifications).

  • A clean, modern, and supportive working environment with a great team culture.
