  • Develop and support cloud-hosted applications utilizing AWS services, including EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, CloudWatch, and RDS/PostgreSQL.
  • Work with Docker, ActiveMQ, Firebase, and Sentry to support application deployment, integrations, messaging, and monitoring.
  • Analyze application requirements, troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend solutions that improve performance, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Lead or coordinate technical project activities, including planning, requirements analysis, design, and delivery.
  • Prepare technical documentation, including scopes of work, software requirements, architecture diagrams, and project estimates.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, developers, infrastructure teams, and technical leadership to deliver effective solutions.
  • Support GIS and geospatial application functionality, including mapping technologies such as Mapbox and Esri.
  • Contribute to frontend and mobile application initiatives involving React, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React Native, and Kotlin when needed.
  • Utilize GitHub, GitLab, and development tools to support version control, collaboration, and software delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to modernize applications, improve system architecture, and enhance development processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on software engineering experience designing, developing, and supporting customer-facing applications.
  • Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, and SQL for application development and backend functionality.
  • Experience with AWS cloud infrastructure, including EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, CloudWatch, and RDS/PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with Docker, ActiveMQ, Firebase, and Sentry.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to application architecture, system design, and technical implementation decisions.
  • Experience leading or coordinating technical projects, including planning, requirements gathering, and delivery.
  • Ability to prepare technical documentation, software requirements, scopes of work, and project estimates.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to independently manage technical assignments while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication, planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work onsite in New York City 3 days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in computer systems architecture.
  • 4-6 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Frontend development experience with React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience with React Native and mobile application development.
