Position: Leave Specialist
Location: Onsite Monday thru Friday Houston TX 77064
Duration: 3-6 months

Location - North Houston
The Leave Specialist is responsible for managing the Leave of Absences for employees of multiple company entities in various locations. The primary responsibility will focus on administration of employee Leave of Absences in conjunction with third-party administrators. Working closely with the Benefits team, HR, WC, and Payroll, the Leave Specialist will provide a high-level of customer service to our employees while maintaining close attention to compliance requirement and a high level of confidentiality. This role performs under the direction of the Director of Global Benefits. Detailed Description:
Performs transactional activities related to LOA and return to work, and complex life-cycle transactions associated with FMLA, STD/LTD and company paid leaves (maternity and parental leaves)
Responsible for determining FMLA eligibility and sending out applicable correspondences regarding the status of employee's leave of absence requests
Obtain the appropriate medical certifications and communicates with employees within the framework of FMLA
Oversee the disability benefit payments and company paid leave benefits for accuracy
Monitor transactions and employee status in Oracle and vendor system
Communicate with Employees, their Managers, HR Business Partners, Risk Management, Payroll and vendor on the LOA process
Assist with general employee leave inquires and resolving related issues
Promptly resolve issues with documents or data to eliminate processing delays
Assist with document review and update on Leaves of Absence policy
Identify process improvements and to recommend and implement efficient solutions
Follow all Company protocols, procedures, and controls in performing assigned duties

Strong computer skills MS Excel, Word and Outlook
Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills to work effectively in a cross functional, matrixed organization and with all levels of employees and peers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills which include the ability to speak, write and listen in a manner that clarifies issues, promotes closure and delivers information in a clear and concise manner and facilitates good decision-making
Ability to maintain Company and employee confidentiality at all times, handle sensitive employee information and protect Company proprietary information in an appropriate manner
Demonstrate a sense of urgency and drives for results and closure of open items
Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines and maintain a calm and professional demeanor when adversity is encountered
Able to manage large amounts of data and information with exceptional attention to detail within a high volume hiring and on-boarding organization Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field
1-3 years of experience in employee benefits administration
OR 3-5 years of HR generalist experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field
Experience in a high volume, fast paced environment
Experience with Oracle HR software
Experience in energy industry.

Most important focus is we need someone with true end-to-end Leave of Absence ownership, not someone who has only supported administrative processing. We are looking for a candidate who can step in and independently manage the leave lifecycle, including:
FMLA eligibility review and administration
STD/LTD coordination
Company-paid leaves (maternity, parental, etc.)
Medical certification tracking and compliance follow-up
Return-to-work processes
Employee and manager communications
Coordination with third-party leave administrators, HR, Benefits, Payroll, and other stakeholders The ideal candidate should be able to explain how they have personally managed complex leave cases from initial request through resolution.
Please prioritize candidates with:
Hands-on Leave Administration experience and full case ownership
Experience managing FMLA and complex leave scenarios
High-volume leave case management experience
Strong employee-facing communication skills handling sensitive/confidential situations
HRIS experience (Oracle preferred; comparable HR systems acceptable)
Please do not prioritize candidates whose experience is primarily:
Benefits enrollment/open enrollment administration
Data entry or transaction processing
Paperwork/document processing without ownership of leave cases.
