Job Description



Senior Forward Deployed Engineer


Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)


Salary: 180-220k Base + Equity


We are partnering with a fast-growing enterprise health technology company building modern infrastructure for pharmacy benefit management and health plan administration.


As a Senior Forward Deployed Engineer, you will combine hands-on backend development with client-facing technical leadership. You'll architect serverless Python applications, manage enterprise API integrations, and lead complex technical onboardings for major client organizations from initial solution design to production.


Key Responsibilities



  • Build & Deploy: Write high throughput, serverless backend applications using Python (Flask, SQLAlchemy) on AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS).

  • Lead Client Integrations: Work directly with client technical teams to define requirements, design custom API integrations, and execute secure data exchanges.

  • Database Architecture: Optimize complex PostgreSQL queries, data models, and indexing strategies to maintain high system performance.

  • Maintain Quality & Security: Write clean code, lead code reviews, manage infrastructure with Terraform, and maintain solid test coverage using Playwright.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with internal product managers, designers, and client stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions on time.


Required Qualifications



  • 7+ years of hands-on Python experience (preferably using Flask and SQLAlchemy) building complex web applications.

  • Strong working knowledge of TypeScript (React) on the front end.

  • Solid experience with AWS serverless architecture (Lambda, API Gateway, ECS), PostgreSQL, and Terraform.

  • Proven track record in a client-facing technical role (Forward Deployed Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Lead).

  • Experience with microservices, API development, Linux/Bash, and Git mono-repos.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

  • HealthTech or Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) experience is a plus but not required.
