Trade Compliance Manager


Location: Multiple UK sites (Shipley, Presteigne and Lincoln). Hybrid working available (minimum 3 days office-based). Relocation support may be considered for a fully office-based candidate. Limited UK and international travel required.

The Role

Reporting to the UK Trade Compliance leadership team, the Trade Compliance Manager will be responsible for leading and overseeing export control and trade compliance activities across several UK business units.



Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of trade compliance programmes, policies, procedures and automated systems across multiple UK sites.
  • Ensure effective export control processes and compliance controls are embedded within business operations.
  • Manage export licensing activities, jurisdiction and classification reviews, denied party screening, technology transfer controls, transaction due diligence and record-keeping requirements.
  • Provide expert guidance on UK, US and international trade compliance regulations and communicate regulatory updates to key stakeholders.
  • Support internal audits, investigations and corrective action programmes.
  • Deliver export compliance training and promote a strong compliance culture across the organisation.
  • Drive process improvements while maintaining regulatory compliance standards.


Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of UK and US export control regulations.
  • Experience implementing and managing trade compliance programmes.
  • Proven ability to influence and build relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working within a high-technology, aerospace or defence environment.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with SAP GTS and Microsoft Office applications; SharePoint experience beneficial.


Key Skills & Experience

  • Background in defence, aerospace or other highly regulated technology sectors.
  • Experience managing projects, programmes and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong understanding of UK Military List, Dual-Use controls, ITAR, EAR and international sanctions frameworks.
  • Experience with export licensing, end-user/end-use assessments and global trade compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Able to manage complex workloads and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
