Job Description

An established organisation based in Glasgow is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead a significant business-critical systems migration and transformation project on a contract basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled project professional to take ownership of a large-scale technology implementation, guiding the organisation through the transition from its current platform to a new technology solution.

The successful candidate will oversee the full project lifecycle, from planning and solution selection through to implementation, data migration, testing, go-live and post-implementation support.

The Role

Working closely with senior stakeholders, internal teams and external technology providers, you will provide the leadership, governance and structure required to deliver a successful migration programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end delivery of a major systems migration and implementation project.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, resource requirements and dependencies.
  • Support the assessment and selection of technology solutions and third-party vendors.
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers to ensure agreed deliverables, timescales and project objectives are achieved.
  • Coordinate integrations between new and existing business systems.
  • Oversee data migration activities, system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT) and cutover planning.
  • Ensure effective contingency planning and minimise operational disruption throughout the transition.
  • Maintain project governance documentation including RAID logs, risk registers, budgets and status reports.
  • Facilitate project meetings and steering groups, providing regular progress updates to key stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Work collaboratively across multiple business functions including Technology, Finance, Operations and Commercial teams.
  • Support successful go-live, stabilisation activities and post-implementation review.

About You

We are keen to hear from experienced Project Managers who have successfully delivered technology transformation, platform migration or systems implementation projects.

You will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience managing complex technology projects from initiation through to successful delivery.
  • Previous involvement in systems migrations, platform implementations or digital transformation programmes.
  • Strong understanding of data migration, integrations, APIs, testing and UAT processes.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and technology vendors.
  • Strong project planning, governance, reporting and risk management skills.
  • Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working with recognised project delivery methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile or similar frameworks.
  • Formal project management certifications are welcomed but demonstrable delivery experience is considered equally valuable.

The Opportunity

This is a key appointment within a high-profile technology transformation programme, offering the chance to make a significant impact on the organisation's future technology landscape.

The successful candidate will quickly assess the current environment, establish a clear migration roadmap and provide the leadership required to ensure a smooth and successful transition to the new platform.

The role is based in Glasgow with a hybrid working arrangement. Candidates should be comfortable attending on-site meetings and maintaining close engagement with project teams and stakeholders as required.

Contract Length: 6-12 months

Location: Glasgow (Hybrid)
