- Process weekly payroll in CMiC including payroll period opening and closing, time verification, late time entry resolution, and posting of final and temporary payrolls.
- Collect, review, and enter employee time data from SmartBarrel and approved timesheets; follow up with field supervisors to resolve discrepancies and late submissions prior to payroll close.
What will you be doing?
- Process weekly payroll in CMiC including payroll period opening and closing, time verification, late time entry resolution, and posting of final and temporary payrolls.
- Collect, review, and enter employee time data from SmartBarrel and approved timesheets; follow up with field supervisors to resolve discrepancies and late submissions prior to payroll close.
- Perform pre-payroll verification including status change review, HR note review (FMLA, PLOA, and other leave types), and employee data accuracy checks before each payroll run.
- Maintain employee payroll records including direct deposit updates, benefit deductions, garnishments, child support orders, and other court-ordered withholdings.
- Process and remit child support payments, garnishment disbursements, and related payroll deductions on schedule.
- Process supplemental employee pay components including per diems, lump sum payments, and gift card processing in CMiC.
- Process paper checks and prepare the payroll ACH batch for management approval and submission.
- Administer PTO tracking and coordinate year-end PTO carry-forward processing in CMiC.
- Process employee expense reimbursements and supplemental deductions through payroll.
- Process cost transfers in CMiC to correct job cost coding errors on employee time records.
- Prepare, complete, and submit certified payroll reports and prevailing wage compliance documentation in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
- Prepare IEC OJT reporting and weekly vouchers for Fort Worth (weekly) and monthly IEC reporting for Dallas in compliance with IEC requirements.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies by researching records and coordinating with HR and project teams.
- Maintain payroll records and documentation in compliance with company policies and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain and update payroll SOPs and process documentation to support consistency and audit readiness.
- Serve as backup to the second Payroll Specialist, ensuring continuity of all payroll processing tasks during absences or high-volume periods.
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries submitted through Zendesk, including questions regarding paychecks, deductions, and timecard corrections.
- Perform other duties as assigned by payroll management.
What do you bring?
- 3-5 years of payroll processing or related accounting experience required.
- Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office 365.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with both field and office personnel.
- Experience with CMiC or comparable construction payroll/ERP systems (CMiC strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with Prevailing Wage, Davis-Bacon, and certified payroll reporting.
- Construction industry payroll experience preferred.
