Java Backend Developer -- Independent Candidates Only

Location: Raleigh, NC (Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ Months

Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Java Backend Developer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot. The ideal candidate should have experience building secure, high-performance applications and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Develop and consume RESTful APIs for web and mobile applications.
Build scalable, secure, and high-performance microservices.
Integrate applications with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices.
Optimize application performance and troubleshoot production issues.
Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, and product teams.
Implement authentication and authorization using JWT, OAuth2, or Spring Security.
Participate in code reviews and maintain coding standards.
Work with version control systems such as Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Required Skills
Strong proficiency in Java (8/11/17+).
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, and Spring Security.
Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
Good understanding of microservices architecture.
Experience with Hibernate/JPA.
Knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
Familiarity with Git and Maven or Gradle.
Understanding of unit testing using JUnit and Mockito.
Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
Familiarity with messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ is an advantage.
Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
