Job Description

Overview

At Jacobs, we're challenging today to reinvent tomorrow by solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities, resilient environments, mission-critical outcomes, operational advancement, scientific discovery and cutting-edge manufacturing. If you're passionate about Unreal Engine, innovation, and building scalable digital solutions that make a real impact for clients, we'd love to hear from you.

Senior Digital Consultant - Unreal Engine is a senior technical specialist who brings deep Unreal Engine 5 expertise to support the delivery of immersive and digital solutions for clients. You'll design robust pipelines, optimise performance, integrate complex datasets, and guide multidisciplinary teams through technical challenges. This role blends hands-on technical execution with consulting capability across process, technology, data, and governance to shape project outcomes and drive innovation in real-time workflows and digital delivery.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain Unreal Engine 5 systems using C++ and Blueprints, producing clean, efficient, well-documented code.
  • Develop and optimise real-time pipelines for asset import, ETL processes, plugin integration, and shipping configurations.
  • Create custom Unreal Engine tools and plugins to streamline workflows and improve team efficiency.
  • Profile and optimise performance across PC, VR, and mobile platforms, including rendering and memory management.
  • Build automation scripts and pipelines for asset processing and project deployment.
  • Integrate diverse datasets such as GIS, BIM, LiDAR, photogrammetry, CAD models, and 3DGS into Unreal Engine environments.
  • Manage version control workflows using Git and Unreal Version Control (UVC).
  • Provide technical leadership, including recommendations on emerging technologies, innovation opportunities, and best-practice patterns.
  • Collaborate with designers, artists, and technical specialists to ensure assets and features meet performance and technical requirements.
  • Debug and resolve complex technical issues, including threading, memory, and engine-level optimisations.
  • Support project management fundamentals and coordinate with offshore delivery teams.
Qualifications
  • Expert-level proficiency in C++, Unreal Engine 5 architecture, and Blueprint scripting.
  • Ability to design and develop custom Unreal Engine plugins.
  • Strong understanding of rendering pipelines, shaders, and optimisation techniques.
  • Experience with version control, CI/CD pipelines, project management tools, and agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with GIS/BIM workflows, photogrammetry, and LiDAR integration.
  • Awareness of technology roadmaps, industry trends, and emerging digital capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to integrate digital tools and automate data analysis and management tasks to produce bespoke solutions.
Inclusion and Workplace Belonging

We aim to embed inclusion and belonging in everything we do. We are committed to building vibrant communities within Jacobs and supporting employees through initiatives and networks. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply. We invite applicants to nominate a cultural representative to participate on the interview panel whenever possible.

Note on Working Arrangements

We value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for culture and client delivery. We offer a hybrid working policy, enabling a balance of office/project work and remote work to support performance.
