Are you a seasoned project development professional eager to drive the energy transition from the ground up? A premier global renewable energy developer and asset manager is expanding its Australian footprint, seeking an experienced Senior Project Developer to lead utility-scale Solar and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) assets through to commercial readiness.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Business Development Director, you will own the end to end delivery of renewable projects through to the investment case stage. You will serve as the central operational nexus, aligning internal specialist teams, managing external consultancies, and steering assets toward construction while balancing schedule, cost, and risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead overall project delivery to the investment decision phase, implementing engineering strategies and incorporating O&M requirements.
• Coordinate cross-functional inputs across internal Engineering & Construction, Legal, Finance, Environment & Planning, and Community Relations.
• Direct external consultants and land/planning specialists to clear development pathways.
• Oversee grid connection workflows alongside internal Interconnection, Legal, and Technical advisors.
• Manage land, regulatory, and local community stakeholder relationships, attending community forums and negotiating key agreements.
• Conduct desktop and field-based constraint investigations for prospect sites in feasibility stages.
• Report on project progress, risks, budgets, and strategic development opportunities for investment committee reviews.
• Track market dynamics, policy shifts, and competitive landscapes relevant to the Australian energy market.

What You Bring

• Qualifications: Tertiary degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience: 6+ years of post-qualification experience across project management and business development, ideally within the Australian utility-scale solar and/or BESS sectors.
• Stakeholder Skills: Proven capability negotiating with landowners, regulators, utilities, and local councils, with strong cross-cultural awareness.
• Commercial & Risk Acumen: Track record of preparing concise business cases, development plans, and risk assessments for complex infrastructure projects.
• Execution: Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, manage multiple project pipelines, and operate with high detail orientation.
