Job Description

The Florida Health Department is seeking an experienced Data Analyst with a strong background in U.S. Healthcare and Medicaid. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience analyzing healthcare data, developing interactive dashboards, writing complex SQL queries, and delivering actionable insights using Tableau. This role requires close collaboration with business stakeholders to support reporting, compliance, and operational decision-making.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of recent U.S. Healthcare Data Analyst experience.
  • Minimum 3+ years of Medicaid domain experience (Mandatory).
  • Strong hands-on experience with SQL, including complex queries, joins, stored procedures, and performance optimization.
  • Strong experience developing reports and dashboards using Tableau.
  • Experience analyzing large healthcare datasets and translating business requirements into reporting solutions.
  • Strong understanding of data validation, data quality, and reporting best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with business users, technical teams, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Power BI.
  • Experience working with SaaS-based applications.
  • Knowledge of healthcare reporting, regulatory compliance, and public health data.
  • Experience supporting state or government healthcare programs is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze healthcare and Medicaid data to support business and operational reporting.
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize Tableau dashboards and visualizations.
  • Write complex SQL queries to extract, transform, and validate data from multiple sources.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and data quality issues to provide actionable insights.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather reporting requirements and deliver analytical solutions.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with healthcare reporting standards.
  • Support ad hoc reporting, dashboard enhancements, and performance optimization initiatives.
  • Document reporting processes, data definitions, and technical specifications.
