Software Engineer
Manchester + Hybrid Work from Home

Up to £60,000 + Benefits

About the Role

Our client, an innovative industrial automation company, is looking for a Software Engineer with a strong focus on C++, Qt, and Linux to join their software development team. In this role, you will develop operating system components and service tools for Linux-based industrial systems, implement applications in C++ with Qt, and maintain the CI/CD pipeline while applying agile methodologies.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Developing, maintaining, and optimising operating system components, drivers, and service tools for industrial systems on Linux (x86/ARM)
  • Implementing and extending applications using C++ with Qt
  • Supporting and improving the build and CI/CD pipeline (e.g. Jenkins or Azure DevOps)
  • Managing regular security and feature updates
  • Contributing to virtualisation and containerisation initiatives using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Collaborating with interdisciplinary, international teams
  • Participating in agile ways of working (Scrum or SAFe), including documentation and code reviews

What We're Looking For

  • Strong hands-on experience with C++ and Qt in a Linux environment
  • Familiarity with embedded or system-level development (x86/ARM)
  • Experience with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps
  • Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes and containerisation concepts
  • Comfortable working in agile teams (Scrum/SAFe) within an international, cross-functional setting
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Degree qualification in a related field - Computer Science etc
