AS400 / RPG / Mainframe Consultant

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced AS400 / RPG / Mainframe Consultant to support the development, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise applications running on IBM i (AS400) and Mainframe platforms. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in RPG development, IBM i administration, and Mainframe technologies, with the ability to troubleshoot production issues and deliver high-quality solutions.

Required Skills

• 9+ years of experience in AS400/IBM i development.
• Strong hands-on experience with:
• RPG III / RPG IV (RPGLE)
• ILE RPG
• CL/CLLE
• DB2/400
• SQL on IBM i
• DDS
• Experience with Mainframe technologies such as:
• COBOL
• JCL
• CICS
• VSAM
• Strong debugging and performance tuning skills.
• Experience with production support and incident management.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Free Format RPG.
• Knowledge of IBM i modernization tools and APIs.
• Exposure to DevOps, Git, Jenkins, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Banking, Insurance, Retail, or Manufacturing domain experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Relevant IBM i/Mainframe certifications are an advantage.
