Senior Power BI Developer

Your new role

As a Senior Business Intelligence Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering scalable Business Intelligence solutions that provide actionable insights to a broad range of stakeholders. You will leverage Power BI, SQL and modern data platforms to create high-performing dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions. A key aspect of the role will involve working with Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance how users interact with data, enabling automated insights, natural language querying, and near real-time summarisation of analytics and operational information. You will collaborate closely with data engineering, governance and data science teams to develop robust BI frameworks, implement governance standards, and support the organisation's broader data strategy.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and developing enterprise BI frameworks, standards, and governance models.
• Building intuitive, customer-centric Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Developing automated analytics, insights, and data summarisation capabilities using LLM technologies.
• Integrating data from multiple sources including SQL Server, Oracle, cloud platforms, and APIs.
• Managing BI environments and deployment pipelines across development, testing, and production environments.
• Applying version control and CI/CD practices across BI products.
• Developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation.
• Partnering with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable BI solutions.
• Mentoring junior team members and contributing to capability uplift initiatives.
• Driving continuous improvement across BI tools, technologies, and delivery practices.

What you'll need to succeed

• Proven experience as a Senior Business Intelligence Developer within large and complex environments.
• Strong expertise in Power BI, DAD, SQL, data modelling, and business intelligence best practices.
• Experience utilising Large Language Models (LLMs) to enhance analytics, reporting, and data consumption.
• Strong capability in performance optimisation and tuning of Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Experience configuring and administering Power BI environments across cloud and/or on-premises platforms.
• Extensive experience in ETL development, data migration, data cleansing, and data transformation across large-scale datasets.
• Strong knowledge of relational databases and unstructured data sources.
• Proficiency in Python and modern BI technologies.
• Experience with version control tools such as GitHub and Bitbucket.
• Experience using Jira, Confluence, and other delivery management tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
• Superior problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• The ability to work effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and deadlines.
