Remote: Yes candidates should be able to travel to Reading, PA at least a couple of times per month. Local/nearby candidates preferred.

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineering Technical Lead with deep expertise in Apache Flink, Amazon Managed Service for Apache Flink, Confluent Kafka, and AWS.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience architecting, developing, debugging, optimizing, and supporting enterprise-scale, real-time streaming platforms in 24x7 production environments.

Key Requirements

• 10+ years of Software/Data Engineering or Distributed Systems experience
• 7+ years of hands-on Apache Flink experience in production
• Strong expertise in Java, PyFlink, Python, and SQL
• Deep experience with Confluent Kafka, including topics, partitions, consumer groups, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, and performance tuning
• Strong experience with Amazon Managed Service for Apache Flink
• Proven experience building high-throughput, low-latency streaming pipelines
• Expertise in:
  • Stateful Stream Processing
  • Event-Driven Architecture
  • Event-Time Processing & Watermarking
  • Tumbling, Sliding & Session Windows
  • Exactly-Once Processing
  • Checkpointing & Savepoints
  • Backpressure & State Management
  • Distributed Systems & Data Lakes
• Strong AWS experience with S3, EMR, Glue, CloudWatch, Lambda, Kinesis, and Redshift
• Experience troubleshooting production issues involving Flink, Kafka, consumer lag, checkpoint failures, backpressure, memory issues, partition skew, and performance bottlenecks
• Experience leading/mentoring engineering teams while remaining hands-on

Preferred

• Experience with global, mission-critical streaming platforms and strict SLAs
• AWS Data Analytics Specialty or AWS Solutions Architect certification
• Experience processing billions of events and multi-terabyte daily data volumes
• Experience with CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, or similar observability tools
