Job Description

Copywriter
£35,000
Eight Financial Advice

We’re looking for a talented Copywriter to join EIGHT’s Marketing & Communications team and help bring our brand to life through clear, engaging and effective content.

You’ll be responsible for creating copy across our websites, email campaigns, social media, PR, events and internal communications. You’ll work closely with the Group Marketing Partner and colleagues across the business to turn ideas, complex financial topics and business updates into content that connects with the right audience.

You’ll play an important role in how we communicate with clients, prospective clients, advisers and colleagues, helping us build relationships, generate interest and deliver a consistent EIGHT experience. As we operate in a regulated financial services environment, accuracy is just as important as creativity. You’ll need to produce high-quality content that is engaging, commercially focused and meets our brand and compliance requirements.

Copywriting & Digital campaigns

  • Write engaging copy for websites, emails, newsletters, client communications, social media, campaigns and marketing materials.
  • Create content that explains financial topics and the value of financial advice in clear, accessible language.
  • Develop headlines, messaging and calls to action that capture attention and encourage people to take the next step.
  • Adapt content for different audiences, platforms and stages of the client journey.
  • Proofread and edit copy to ensure it is accurate, consistent and ready for publication.

Campaigns & Digital marketing

  • Work with the Marketing team to develop and deliver campaign messaging across multiple channels.
  • Write email campaigns and follow-up journeys that encourage engagement, enquiries and meetings.
  • Create and update website pages, landing pages, articles, guides and FAQs.
  • Apply SEO principles to improve online visibility while keeping content natural, useful and engaging.
  • Review existing content and use performance insights to identify opportunities for improvement.

Social media, PR & Thought leadership

  • Create social media posts, captions, campaign content and short-form scripts for EIGHT’s channels.
  • Work with advisers, senior leaders and subject-matter experts to develop articles and thought-leadership content.
  • Draft press releases, award submissions, case studies, biographies and other external communications.
  • Work with internal colleagues and external PR partners to identify stories and opportunities to raise EIGHT’s profile.
  • Adapt longer pieces of content into shorter, platform-specific formats while maintaining the original message.

Internal communications & Brand

  • Produce internal announcements, business updates, presentations and leadership communications.
  • Help maintain a consistent EIGHT tone of voice across all written communications.
  • Build and maintain a library of approved messaging, templates and key business information.
  • Work with colleagues across the business to understand their requirements and turn briefs into effective content.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure all content is accurate, appropriate for its intended audience and aligned with EIGHT’s brand standards.
  • Work with Risk and Compliance colleagues, including relevant St. James’s Place teams, to obtain the necessary approvals.
  • Respond positively to feedback and make amendments efficiently.
  • Maintain version control and ensure only approved content is published or distributed.
  • Challenge unclear information or unsupported claims and make sure content is based on reliable sources.

• A naturally curious writer who wants to understand the subject before writing about it.

• Creative and commercially minded, with the judgement to know when copy should inform, persuade, reassure or prompt action.

• Meticulous about detail, accuracy and the quality of the finished work.

• Confident enough to challenge a brief or wording when there is a clearer or more effective way to communicate it.

• Comfortable working at pace across multiple businesses, audiences and priorities.

• Collaborative, low-ego and receptive to feedback, while able to defend good copywriting decisions constructively.

• Proactive and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership from initial brief through to approved final copy.

  • Hybrid working: 3 days in the office, 2 days wherever you work best
  • Performance bonus + Company-wide bonus
  • 28 days' holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
  • Private medical insurance & life assurance (4x salary)
  • Wellbeing support: EAP, mental health helpline, cycle-to-work scheme
  • Free mortgage and pension advice from our in-house experts
  • Volunteering time: 8 paid hours annually via The Eight Foundation
  • Regular socials & epic events
